前言

Preface

细小范围内与周边环境气候有异的现象被称为「微气候」。在这种气候现象的影响下，生物得以契机找到它们的独特性，与周遭环境联系却又独立。正如咖啡的种植，气压、湿度，甚至是些微不同的海拔影响，都使它们拥有了截然不同的风味。无独有偶，这恰好也可以成为描述不同个体之间之所以存在差异性的缘由。

即使我们了然生物的定律，却仍在寻找着造成人与人之间差异的原因，并为此编造了无数的借口。在这个寻找的过程中，我们仿佛一座孤岛，但却努力地想要抓住一些绳索，和另外的人事物捆绑，并建立起一些微妙的关系。这种关系失去了身体，被语言和思维带领，时而紧密，时而松散，仿佛信件一般，有来却不一定有往。

在本次展览中，两位艺术家分别身处伦敦和深圳，以「微气候」这一概念为契机，互相进行干扰与介入，打破「物理界限」，利用文本、图像与装置串联起对于同一主题的思考。在这场实践中，时间节点/地点/情绪等都决定了艺术家当下的回答；但与此同时，她们原有的文化构建又对其产生了约束和影响。两个独立的个体，凭借仅有的相似点对彼此进行一次又一次的干预，这个展览本身就是一种想象力下的成果。

A microclimate is a local set of atmospheric conditions that differ from those in the surrounding areas, often with a slight difference but sometimes with a substantial one. Living things have the ability to obtain their uniqueness under this climate phenomenon and build up a flexible relationship with the surroundings. Coincidentally, this can also be seen as the rationale of the differences between individuals. 

Eventhough we know the rules of living things, we are still looking for the reasons why there are the differences between people and we have made up countless excuses for this. In the process of searching, we look like isolated islands, but we pay great efforts to bind with other people and build some subtle relationships. This kind of relationship is bodiless and unstable, which is led by language and thoughts. Just like writing letters, you may not get a response after you send out the message.

In this exhibition, the two artists based in London and Shenzhen respectively. Taking the concept of “microclimate” as an opportunity, they interfere and intervene with each other to break the “physical boundary” and use text, images and installation to link up their responses towards a topic. In this practice, the timing/places/mood etc. all have an impact on the artist's current response; However, at the same time, their original cultural construction may have restricted and influenced them to a certain extent. The exhibition itself is the result of imagination, within which two individuals intervening in each other again and again.

赖雨青是一位跨媒介艺术家。她擅长运用图像、影像、声音及装置来营造一种幻象般的情境。她将文字、日常用品与手工制品混合运用，并将其具象化成诗意的作品，以来探讨现实和梦想之间模糊的界限。在她的作品中，我们能发现她对于语言和人类意识状态的浓郁兴趣。

Yuqing Lai is a mixed media artist who uses images, films, sounds and installation to create an illusion. She manipulates words, daily objects and crafts to create a visual poem shifting the ambiguous boundary between reality and dream. All her works indicate her profound interest in languages, consciousness and unconsciousness.

刘颖真对于“制作图像“保持了极大的兴趣；她的图像作品是宁静的，在视觉上又兼具雅致。在艺术创作中，她将自身经历与经过细致挑选的外部事实数据相结合，创造出能唤起多层次分析的”图案“。

Yingzhen Liu is passionate about making ‘images’; Her images are quiet, calm and visually delicate. Referencing the personal whilst integrating facts and figures from external sources. The materials used and ‘pattern’ created are meticulously selected to evoke layer upon layer of analysis and meaning.
